Focus on You a Huge Success

Our brand new event ‘Focus on You’ held on Wednesday 23rd March at North Notts Arena, Worksop was a huge success.

Over 100 young people got involved with our brand new show ‘Focus on You’ a celebration of the creativity of young people from within the Bassetlaw district.  Over the weeks leading up to this event, young people from different organisations worked towards the evening. They had been busily planning, creating and preparing. We had two young people helping backstage one from Valley Youth Centre and another from Tuxford Academy. The evening was presented by two young ladies from The Little Drama Group Amy and Abigail.

The young people involved gained new skills and techniques during their preparations, some towards examinations some to assist with a variety of qualifications, others within an activity during their weekly meetings. 

The event attracted young people from across Bassetlaw, some from North Notts and RNN group Colleges and Academies and others from local organisations who work with and support young people. They all worked very hard making their different creations and all enjoyed the experience. A selection of the groups worked directly with our production manager Jenna, on their movement. They thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and it was a thoroughly diverse and entertaining evening.  

Young people showed off their talents from hair and make-up, drag, singing, rapping and a special performance from ‘The Greatest Showman’.  A guest girl duo from Nottingham ALT BLK ERA, were recommended by Inspire Youth Arts.  The girls performed two original songs which were both amazing and full of energy, I’m sure we are going to hear much more from them in the future.  The audience were incredible and a great night was had my all!

The charity raised over £750 at this event to help with the work we do.

Thank you to the staff from within the organisations, who helped the young people along the way. Without their support, commitment and sense of humour this event would not have been possible. Thank you also to the volunteers who assisted within the organisations prior to tonight and those who have supported the charity in bringing the event together.  A huge thank you to our amazing supporters who donated funding towards this event and also to everybody who gave us prizes for the raffle.  Thank you also, to the audience, for supporting this cause.  Finally a GREAT BIG thank you to our cast involved in Focus on You 2022 for their creativity, enthusiasm and style. 

We look forward to doing it all again next year!
