Welbeck Estate 10K Fun Run/Walk

This year’s annual 10K Fun Run/Walk around the Welbeck Estate was a huge success, everybody had a fantastic time walking and running the amazingly beautiful course raising over £5000 for the charity.

 The 10K held on Sunday 10th May attracted 400 registered runners raising over £5000 for the charity.  Amongst these were 26 young people who equally enjoyed the stunning scenery of the Welbeck Estate.  The event was very well organised with a water station at the start/finish as well as three additional water stations enroute.  All runners and walkers that completed the course were awarded a 10K medal with the charity’s logo on a purple ribbon. The first runner over the finish line was Josh Hooton, who completed the course in 36 minutes and 15 seconds. Josh was awarded a trophy for winning. Aaron Rice finished in second place with a time of 37.37. The first two young people to finish were awarded a trophy each – Willow aged 14 and Freddie aged 10.

As part of this event Focus on Young People in Bassetlaw were supporting ‘Move More in May’ adding a whopping 4,448,591.2 moves to their tally!

The event was supported by volunteers and Trustees of the charity, Worksop Rotary club, Valley Young Peoples Centre and Carlton-in-Lindrick Youth Club.  We had 25 volunteers in total, amongst which, 1 was a young person, who gave up their time on a Sunday morning to come along and help.  A massive ‘thank you’ to everyone who made this event possible! Special thanks too, to Alison Swan Parente,  the owner of the estate and Anuszka Parente, the charities President for allowing us to hold this fabulous event.
