The Mob in Retford successfully applied for a Grant to Focus, to provide 60 of their members with 2 puppetry workshops.  The workshops demonstrated a range of different puppet modalities, experience in handling puppets, working in teams and independently and the relationship between a puppet, the puppeteer and the audience.  The children and young people involved were extremely engaged with the activities which expanded on their knowledge of the performing arts.

Carolyn White, from The Mob, said:

“The members have gained experience working with puppets and explored how you can express emotion and communicate without talking.  We have also been able to purchase our own puppet and will be looking for opportunities to use our newly gained puppet skills within future productions.  Potentially puppets allow us to explore difficult to talk about subject matter in a more safe and non threatening way.

Thank you so much to Focus on Young People in Bassetlaw for supporting this project, it really has been a lot of fun and something we will continue to explore and build on going forwards”.
