Charity Quiz Night

This years annual Quiz night with cheese and wine, at Retford Oaks Academy attracted 28 teams and raised £1760 for the charity.

       

 

This year’s quiz was held in the dining hall at Retford Oaks Academy on Thursday 20th November.

We attracted 28 teams of four, who all had an amazing night.

Each team of 4  received a complimentary bottle of wine along with cheese and crackers for their table. There was a licensed bar to buy another bottle of wine as well as beer, soft drinks, water, tea and coffee.  Many thanks to Anuszka Parente, who donated the Stichelton cheese from the Welbeck Farm shop and also to Rob Brookes from Kilton Forest Golf Club, who ran the bar for us.

The event raised over £1760 which will be used to support children and young people across Bassetlaw.

Thanks to everybody who volunteered to help this event run smoothly and all who donated raffle prizes, to Retford Oaks for providing the perfect venue, to the Drama Teacher at Retford Oaks who supplied and sorted the speaker system and to our amazing presenters from Retford Oaks Academy, who gave up their time to come along and read our quiz questions and treat us with a song!

This year’s winning team, with a very respectable score of 94 was ‘Sam’s Team’ who also won last years quiz and get to keep the FoYPiB trophy for another year, huge congratulations to them!  In second place with just half a point less was ‘The Dukeries of Hazard’.

We have received some very positive feedback as well as raising an amazing amount of money for the charity.

We will definitely be having another Cheese and Wine Quiz Night next year and as soon as we have a date will post it on our Events page.
