Emily was awarded funding to help her purchase new equipment needed when she started competing in a different age group.
“I was able to train with my own equipment therefore in competition, I was more comfortable and able to throw further allowing me to achieve more “.
Emily had a successful year winning at senior national level, competing for GB in a European match in Berlin.
Most notably Emily Race, who we supported as a young athlete and who has gone forward to win 4 English Schools titles (2 at high jump and two at Heptathlon) and a further 5 England Athletics National titles at High Jump, her most recent as an under 23 athlete only last season. Emily has also been successful academically achieving a 1st class honours degree in Chemistry at the University of Sheffield, is currently studying for a Masters and has been allocated a PhD place for next year. This shows that developing the right attitude in sport can also prepare young people for high achievement in other aspects of life.
