Focus on Young People in Bassetlaw is delighted to celebrate the incredible success of local dancer Jasmine, who proudly represented Team England at the Dance World Cup in Dublin.

Jasmine achieved the remarkable honour of being selected for Team England after competing against more than 9,500 dancers from across the UK. Having danced in Bassetlaw since the age of three, she was chosen to compete in both an Acro Solo and a Group Lyrical performance at one of the world's most prestigious dance competitions, featuring competitors from 60 countries.

To support Jasmine on her journey, FoYPiB awarded a grant of £175 towards the purchase of her Team GB competition kit, helping to reduce some of the significant costs involved in representing her country on the international stage.

The competition proved to be an outstanding success. Jasmine achieved an incredible 4th place in the world in her Acro Solo category and was the highest-placed English competitor, finishing 1st in England. She also secured 8th place in the world as part of her Lyrical Group performance.

Reflecting on the experience, Jasmine said the funding support helped with the expensive costs of attending the event and enabled her to represent England at the Dance World Cup. The opportunity had a positive impact on her wellbeing and allowed her to take part in a truly unforgettable experience.

Jasmine's achievements are a testament to her hard work, dedication and talent. To compete at this level against dancers from 60 countries is an extraordinary accomplishment and one that has made her family, dance school and the wider Bassetlaw community extremely proud.

Looking ahead, Jasmine hopes to audition again for Team England next year when the Dance World Cup will be held in Lisbon, Portugal. After coming so close this year, her goal is to return and bring home a world medal.

Everyone at FoYPiB congratulates Jasmine on her fantastic achievements and wishes her every success in her future dancing career. We are proud to have played a small part in supporting such an inspiring young person as she pursues her dreams on the world stage. 💃🏅
